LOCAL ISSUES. Semirech’e. Qarluq-Kaghan Köbäk, 8th century. Cash (Bronze, 19 mm, 2.50 g). Around a central square hole, ‘βγy xrʾlwγ xʾγʾn pny’, i.e. ‘βaγ-ē Xarāluγ xāγān pan-i’ (‘Coin of the Lord Qarluq-Kaghan’ in Sogdian). Rev. ‘kwpʾk xwtʾw’, i.e. ‘Kupāk xutāw’ (‘King Köbäk’ in Sogdian); tamgha and a runic symbol. Zeno 46265. Extremely rare. Areas of weakness and with some earthen deposits, otherwise, good fine.
